The Level-Up Programme seeks to improve the well-being, education, and empowerment of adolescents and young people, particularly girls, aged 15 to 24. It recognizes the critical intersection of education, health, and social support in shaping a brighter future for young people. By focusing on both in-school and out-of-school youth, the programme aims to create safe, supportive environments for learning, growth, and critical life skills development.
This programme will leverage a holistic approach, integrating education on sexual and reproductive health (including HIV/AIDS, TB, and contraceptive access), mental health, human rights, gender-based violence (GBV), and discrimination. It will also provide practical support to youth in terms of pathways to education, employment, and entrepreneurship, giving them the tools they need to succeed in today’s society
Enhance educational opportunities for both in-school and out-of-school youth, fostering greater awareness of critical health issues, human rights, and gender equality.
Provide comprehensive education on HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis (TB), mental health, and other health challenges, alongside access to counseling, testing, and contraceptive services where requested.
Empower youth with practical skills, job readiness training, and entrepreneurship opportunities to enhance employability and reduce unemployment rates among young people.
Foster greater understanding and behavior change around issues like gender-based violence, mental health, discrimination, and human rights, ensuring that young people are better equipped to deal with these challenges.
Urgent Need: The prevalence of HIV/AIDS among adolescents and young people remains a significant public health concern in our community. With increasing rates of new infections and limited access to accurate information and support services, there is an urgent need for comprehensive intervention programs.
Vulnerable Population: Adolescents and young people are particularly vulnerable to HIV/AIDS due to factors such as lack of awareness, social stigma, and risky behaviours. By targeting this demographic group, we can address the root causes of vulnerability and empower them with the knowledge and skills needed to protect themselves and others.
Holistic Approach: Our programme takes a holistic approach to HIV/AIDS prevention and education, encompassing early intervention, prevention, and support services. By integrating educational initiatives with counselling and testing services, we aim to address both the behavioural and psychological aspects of HIV/AIDS prevention and management.
Community Engagement: Community dialogues play a crucial role in raising awareness, reducing stigma, and fostering support networks for individuals affected by HIV/AIDS. By engaging community members, stakeholders, and youth leaders in open discussions, we can promote a culture of inclusivity and acceptance within our community.
A human rights programme is justified by the inherent value of every individual's rights and dignity. It serves to prevent abuses, promote justice and equality, empower marginalized groups, uphold the rule of law, and foster a culture of respect and accountability, contributing to stable and inclusive societies locally and globally.
